What’s New
- Homework and Media Assignment Enhancement
- The assignment manager now allows instructors to include media on any type of homework, including homework assignments. The filter bar that toggles between questions and media has been added to the homework question-selection page, and the setting requiring students to work the media before answering questions is also available. This will allow instructors to more readily combine media and end of chapter questions together in assignments, ensuring that students use the media resources available to them.
- IP Address Restriction for Tests
- Instructors or other designated staff (e.g., lab administrators) can specify a range of IP addresses from which tests or quizzes must be taken. Once the setting is activated at the course level, specific addresses can be changed, or the setting deactivated, for individual tests or quizzes. Specific addresses can also be changed from the Change Settings for Multiple Assignments page. This restriction does not apply to homework.

What’s New
- Blackboard Integration
- Blackboard users will now be able to integrate their Blackboard course with any MyLab New Design course. This integration will allow for instructor and student single sign-on, inclusion of direct links to the MyLab course from within Blackboard content pages, and easy grade transfer. For more information, click here.
- Study Plan Improvements
- Enhanced Study Plan Scoring
- Enhanced Study Plan scoring will grade students on the number of learning objectives they have mastered, rather than by the number of exercises they have worked correctly. This will allow instructors to easily tie a grade to the Study Plan and quickly assess in which content areas students need more practice.

What’s New
- Item Analysis for Combined Courses
- Item Analysis Exports are now available for course groups from both the Quick Exports and Advanced Exports pages. If a coordinator-instructor exports Item Analysis for a course group, he/she can get a summary of student performance across all course sections in the course group as well as student scoring details for each student. Question metrics (difficulty, median time, correct on first try) are also included in Advanced Exports.
- Stop and Resume Tests/Quizzes
- Instructors can choose to allow students to stop taking a test or quiz and return at a later time to complete it. If they select this setting, the test/quiz is restricted so that students can see only one question at a time and cannot change previously answered questions or look ahead. Students must answer a question completely before they can move on. Students returning to a timed test will have only the remaining time to complete the test; the clock does not “start over.”
Features Released for Summer 2010
On June 27th 2010, MyAccountingLab was updated with the new features that you have been asking for! Read below to learn about the new features and the release details. This new release is filled with easy-to-use features that give students more "I Get It" moments, while providing you more options and flexibility for your course!
New Features
- Freeze Correct Answers
- When choosing the settings in homework, instructors now have the option to freeze the correct answers, so that after each try, the student will only have to edit what they have answered incorrectly.
- New “Dashboard” Display for Students
- A new home page – based on the current Announcements page – uses simple bar charts, an improved calendar, and other visual motivators to let students know their current grade performance in the course, how much work they still need to complete, and when their upcoming assignments are due. Instructors decide to show or hide depending on their preferences.
- Automated Late Due Date Grading
- Allow students to submit homework past the due date by setting a penalty for late submissions. Deductions can be applied in points or percentages and per day from the final score. Instructors can specify a final submission date, beyond which assignments can no longer be submitted. Assignments submitted late with a penalty will be clearly marked in the Gradebook.
Features Released for Winter 2010!
MyAccountingLab®, the leading accounting technology, is even better! On December 29, 2009, MyAccountingLab was updated with the new features that you have been asking for! This includes the ability to set the number of tries per part, to have homework factor into the Study Plan, to hide the Study Plan altogether, and for Coordinators the ability to see results from all their member courses at once.
New Features
- Ability to Adjust Number of Tries within Questions
- Instructors can now choose the number of times students can work each answer field within a question, changing the default of three tries to any number between 1 and 99. They do this either at the question level from the Preview & Add or Remove window or at the assignment level from View Question Details.
- Homework Affects Mastery in Study Plan
- Instructors now have the option to allow Homework to affect the Study Plan. In addition, they can control which assignment types affect the Study Plan and determine mastery. On the Mastery Options page in the Study Plan Manager, they can include Homework, exclude Sample Tests or Quizzes, and specify the percentage score needed for mastery in each assignment type.
- Ability to Hide the Study Plan
- Instructors who do not use the Study Plan in their course now have the option of hiding it completely (the button is not shown). Other instructors may choose to hide the Study Plan until after students have taken a test or completed an assignment; both options can be found on the Select Coverage page in the Study Plan Manager.
