Features Released December 2006

The new MyAccountingLab™ product and first Prentice Hall (abbreviated) courses for Winter and Spring 2007 were published Wednesday morning 12/27 as planned.

Highlights of the release include:

• New MyAccountingLab Player – This new XL player was released with the following important features:
  
• All of the end-of-chapter material both as algorithmic versions that allow students repeated practice and as book-match versions that instructors are used to assigning for homework.
  
• Flash-based Demo Docs for each of the end-of-chapter exercises and problems that students can refer to as they work through the questions.
  
• Guided Solutions that follow the style of the textbook and the Demo Docs. These guided solutions have been created by instructors to help students solve a problem the way it was demonstrated in class.
  
• Accounting-specific display and grading features to accommodate complex, multi-step questions -- in layout designed to be easy-to-use for first-time accounting students. This includes a built-in calculator and a Skip Ahead feature in Guided Solutions.
  
• Test questions (from TestGen) fully integrated into the MyAccountingLab program and available for online quizzing and testing – no need to have students download a separate plug-in.
  
• Multimedia learning aids that include complete Flash eBooks, Excel in Practice interactive spreadsheets, fully downloadable Working Papers – and topic-specific videos correlated to individual questions.
  
• Throughout the site, numbering and ordering of questions that matches what instructors see in their textbooks.
  
• MyAccountingLab course and assignment features – This new product provides the same power and flexibility currently available in MyEconLab and MyMathLab for online homework, quizzing, testing, tracking results, and student self-study in the Study Plan.
  
• New Support Team – The product launches with the Pearson Educator and Student Support teams in place, based on the MyEconLab support hours and options. • Streamlined Installation Wizard – MyAccountingLab requires users install the MyAccountingLab Player for doing accounting problems online. The Installation Wizard makes the setup of players and plug-ins easy and intuitive. It also provides support for Windows XP SP2 users who may encounter issues with blocked pop-ups.
