Platform and Browser Independence

After this December 23rd, a new MyAccountingLab Player will be released! In addition to previously released features like auto-graded problems and interactive Help Me Solve This questions, the new player offers:

  • Support for both Macintosh® and Windows® platforms.

  • Compatibility with Internet Explorer®, Firefox®, and Safari™ browsers.

  • Freedom from downloads by no longer requiring an ActiveX plug-in. The new MyAccountingLab Player can be used on any computer running the latest version of the Adobe® Flash® 9 Player.
  • A new player design that updates the MyAccountingLab "easy to use" look and feel, and incorporates new features like an expandible content area that allows students and instructors to widen the question area and gain even more room for viewing questions as needed.

All New Features

A number of new features will be also available in December and will only be available with the new, platform- and browser-independent MyAccountingLab Player v2.

  • Simplified Browser Check – In courses using the MyAccountingLab Player v2, the Installation Wizard will be replaced by a simple browser check. The system will make sure a user's computer has the proper version of the Adobe Flash Player when a course is created, when a student enrolls in a MyAccountingLab course, and the first time a student clicks a MyAccountingLab link from within a CourseCompass course. If not, users will be prompted to download the Flash Player from the Adobe web site.

  • Show/Hide Learning Aids – Instructors will have the option to show or hide individual learning aids for the entire course (Study Plan and assignments) or to show and hide them for individual tests, quizzes, and homework assignments. For example, instructors can choose to hide Help Me Solve This and Videos on a homework assignment, or show Textbook pages on a quiz or practice test. Instructors can also choose to show learning aids during review only. For example, an instructor could make Help Me Solve This available to students reviewing a test.

  • Add Comments during Review – When reviewing a student's test or homework assignment, an instructor will be able to add question-specific comments for the student. The comment is automatically displayed the first time the student reviews the test or homework assignment and can be accessed on subsequent reviews via a “View Comment” button located above other learning aids.

The new MyAccountingLab Player will be available for select courses with the launch at the start of the year. Check back for more information as we get closer to the release!
