What does MyAccountingLab offer my students?

With MyAccountingLab, your students can:

What does MyAccountingLab offer me as an instructor?

With MyAccountingLab, you can:

  • Deliver all or a portion of your course online, whether your students are in a lab setting or working from home.
  • Create and assign online homework and tests that are automatically graded and tightly correlated to your textbook.
  • Manage your students' results in a powerful online gradebook designed specifically for Mathematics and Statistics.
  • Customize your course as much or as little as you like, depending on your syllabus and your students' needs.

How do I learn how to set up my MyAccountingLab course?

When does my access to MyAccountingLab expire?

As an instructor, your access to your MyAccountingLab course is good for two years.

How long will students have access to my course?

Students will have access to your course for up to 12 months, typically for a two-semester course. MyAccountingLab in CourseCompass students have access to their course for the duration that you set for that course's start and end dates.

Do I have to do anything for my students to have access to my MyAccountingLab course?

No. Students can register to MyAccountingLab, log in, and choose their school, and the textbook used in your course to get started on their own. They can take Sample Tests and tutorials to do self-paced study. If you decide to create online assignments in MyAccountingLab, your students can choose your course in the "Instructor/Course" field, and their work will be tracked in your gradebook.

What if my students do not have Internet access at home?

Students can log into MyAccountingLab from a school computer in a lab or library, print out their MyAccountingLab homework assignment, and work through the assignment on paper. They can then enter the answers in MyAccountingLab when they are next on campus. Make sure the computers in any labs where your students will be using MyAccountingLab have been set up with the appropriate plug-ins and players.

What if I don't cover all the chapters in the textbook? Can I hide course content from my students without deleting it from the course?

You can easily hide or remove chapters, sections, and other resources you don't plan to use from your MyAccountingLab course using the Course Manager. You can restore sections or Chapters if your syllabus changes mid-semester by editing your course coverage.

How do I find the faculty resources in MyAccountingLab?

For most courses, faculty resources are located with the rest of the book-related materials. Look for your textbook either from Pearson Prentice Hall or from Pearson Education Canada.

Can I administer a proctored test in MyAccountingLab over the Web?

Yes. You can use MyAccountingLab's Test Manager to set a variety of options for online tests, including password protection, time limits, number of retries, and expiration dates.

Can I create my own tests for students to take in MyAccountingLab?

Yes. Each MyAccountingLab course contains sample chapter tests you can modify, or you can create your own tests using an online testbank of items correlated to the exercises in your textbook. You can also upload TestGen tests into your MyAccountingLab course.

Can I export grades from the MyAccountingLab gradebook and use them in my spreadsheet program?

Yes. The MyAccountingLab gradebook allows you to export the data in a comma separated value (.csv) file format, and you can open the .csv file in a spreadsheet program.

Is MyAccountingLab Macintosh-compatible? What about Web browsers besides Internet Explorer?

After this December, a new MyAccountingLab Player will be released that in addition to Internet Explorer® on Windows® XP and Vista, will also support Firefox® on Windows XP and Vista and Safari™ and Firefox on the Macintosh. Students and Instructors who have the latest version of the Flash® player after December can do exercises without downloading any extra software or plug-ins.
